In short
- Simple automation: from ~500 €. Complete project (several workflows + AI): 2,000 to 10,000 €. Autonomous business agent: beyond that.
- The visible cost is the build; the one that gets out of hand is monthly operation (LLM, database, hosting).
- What drives the price: number of tools to connect, complexity of the rules, level of autonomy, supervision.
- Starting from a base already in production and an edge stack (Cloudflare) divides both: a base at a known price, low operating costs.
The problem, concretely
"How much does an AI agent cost?" The real question is: which agent. A script that follows up on quotes and an agent that reads, decides, and executes across several systems have neither the same price nor the same risk. The trap I see most often: people price the build and forget the operation, which sometimes ends up costing more than the development.
The market ranges
- Simple automation (one workflow, a few steps): from ~500 €.
- Complete project (several workflows + AI integrations): 2,000 to 10,000 €.
- Autonomous business agent (decisions, multi-step, supervision): beyond that, depending on the complexity.
What really drives the price
- The number of tools to connect and the complexity of the business rules.
- The level of autonomy: an agent that proposes costs less (and risks less) than an agent that executes without validation.
- The supervision, the safeguards, and the interface to steer it.
No-code or coded: the nuance
To get started, a no-code tool (Make, n8n) is often the best cost/time ratio, and I recommend it without reservation when the need is simple. It gets stuck when volume rises, when the rules get complex, or when you need reliable safeguards: at that stage a coded, tested, and supervised agent becomes cheaper to run than a no-code Rube Goldberg machine (see AI agents vs no-code).
Controlling the cost
Rather than redeveloping everything, we start from an agent already in production (on BeForBuild.com) and only price the personalization to your processes. On the operation side, an edge stack (Cloudflare Workers: near-zero cold start; Supabase) keeps the monthly bill low and predictable. Result: a known base price, and a clear package for the rest.
