The observation: a vendor's FDE works for its vendor
AI vendors (OpenAI, Palantir, SaaS vendors) deploy their "forward deployed engineers" in companies to integrate their product with client data and workflows. It's effective, and it's exactly what companies expect from these giants: a product that works fast. But a vendor's FDE has one goal, his employer's: keep his product at your place, in his ecosystem, at his prices. Your dependency is his value.
The counterpart, on the client company side: data at the vendor's, an imposed model, accumulating subscriptions, and a migration that gets more and more expensive every year.
The alternative: the independent integration engineer
